Family Home Evening

My in-laws hosted a family home evening for all of their kids and grandkids and talked about the importance of emergency preparedness. They wanted the grandkids to do some jobs around the house that week to earn money for hygiene kits that were put together that night and then taken to the Humanitarian center a few days later with the individual families.

We talked about the recent events in Haiti and Pam and Craig asked the kids if they had received some funny gifts over the past year and if they knew the reason for those gifts. For birthdays windup flashlights and water bottles with filters were given, last Christmas luggable loos were given and this year wheat and hand grinders were also given. The families have also received some MRE's (meals ready to eat) at each holiday. That night we were able to have a taste of them.

The finale of the evening was when every person was presented with a suitcase of their own so that each person would have a 72 hour kit and be able to put all of the gifts they had received in one place and build upon what had already been started the last year. We are so thankful to have people in our lives that want to make sure we have what we need and are following the prophets counsel to be prepared.
